new oldies

There have been several events/activities in the last few months with photos that I would like to share, but I have had no time to share them. I know, I know, you are sick of hearing how hectic my life is but it is the truth. So until I get caught up, this post will be pinned at the top with links to new blog entries with old dates. That way you won't miss seeing/reading them, and I can keep them in date order. The perfectionist in me likes to keep things organized.

daddy's duty

Good news on the home front. Bryan's platoon graduated last Friday and he has 10 days off. His work schedule has changed too. When he goes back on 8/2 he will be working at the pool teaching Marine Combat Water Survival to the recruits. He is still a Drill Instructor but this is a much easier job than before. It is a M-F job that he will have for approx. a year, possibly less. He will get to come home most nights and every weekend. He will get to wear flip-flops and goofy military swim shorts (think khaki Daisy Dukes) to work on most days.

Normally you get to have your easy job during the last year of your 3 year DI tour. However, with baby #2 coming and the need for certified instructors at the pool the head honchos decided to give him the easier job now.

Bryan has mixed feelings about this. He is happy that he gets to spend more time at home and help out with the boys. The downfall is that his last 1.5 years will be the grueling DI stuff again. He says it would be better to have the hard job for the first 2 years and then have your final year be the kick-back job. That, and when he returns the people that are below him now will be above him which will suck. I understand his point. I wouldn't be thrilled about that either.

Regardless, I am glad to have him home. He & the Pickle are having lots of fun together. Flying kites, washing cars, going to the driving range to putt, wrestling....being boys!

I'll post some pictures soon.
