new oldies

There have been several events/activities in the last few months with photos that I would like to share, but I have had no time to share them. I know, I know, you are sick of hearing how hectic my life is but it is the truth. So until I get caught up, this post will be pinned at the top with links to new blog entries with old dates. That way you won't miss seeing/reading them, and I can keep them in date order. The perfectionist in me likes to keep things organized.

Long Time No Type

Well since both boys are sleeping, I thought I would grab myself a nice cold Tecate (gulp, gulp, ahhh!) and update everyone who reads my blog.

We are doing well. Gavin is a wonderful baby. They say you never have two alike and I totally agree! However, Dylan is a good toddler (95% of the time) and I hope this doesn't mean Gavin will be a good toddler only 5% of the time.

Gavin only cries if we are out or in the car and he gets hungry. He occasionally fusses but he is still learning how too soothe himself. When he fusses, we pick him up and he is fine. I can't seem to get him to take a pacifier but there are times when I just can't hold him (like when Dylan is in the bath or I am cooking dinner) and having a pacifier to soothe him would be so nice. All you pacifier-nazis...I don't want to hear it. Dylan used a "binky" all the time from 4 months to 2 years, and now he only uses one in his crib at bedtime for less than 5 minutes. He dropped the habit on his own.

Now just because Gavin is a good baby doesn't mean my life is easy. Like I said a couple posts down, having 2 is hard. I am "on the go" from 8AM until at least midnight. I do not get to wash my hair every day (or even shower for that matter), and sometimes I even forget to brush my teeth. Hopefully this is only temporary. Thankfully Gavin only gets up 1-2 times a night now. When the boys are asleep at the same time (which is tricky), I do my household duties or work (the kind I get paid for).

Dylan is doing well too. He seems like he has grown in height so much over the last couple months. His vocabulary has also grown a lot. He surprises us with new words all the time. Although most people say "terrible twos", I actually find the twos fun & entertaining. He amazes me everyday with something new.

Anyway, I LOVE my boys with all my being...no matter their mood.

Here are some pictures from this month:

Sweet Slippers, huh? Dylan still loves "Em-mo!"

I think Gavin is going to have some big blue eyes like his big bro.

Fine table manners.

Me, D, & G.

Testing out Papa's surfboard.

Nope, Dylan was not helping me bake. He saw me sprinkling "Pet Fresh" powder on the carpet and he wanted to help really bad. Fine. The stuff pours out really fast because the holes are so big, so I thought he could use baby powder instead. He was sprinkling in little piles here and there and doing a great job so I left him in the family room and I went to go vacuum the bed rooms. When I came back out a few minutes later this is what I saw:

Every step I took released a white cloud of powder.

All of the following pictures were taken today:

Houston, we have a smiler.

This is what happens when your 2 year-old shakes his sippy cup of chocolate milk in the car. Sippy cups suck. They ALL leak.

Trying to wear Daddy's watch as sunglasses. By the way, his teeth are not yellow. That is blood on his teeth from his split/chapped bottom lip. He really needs to put the chapstick on his lips rather than eat it, don'tcha think?

Silly kid.

I bet you think are thinking "Why the heck don't they buy some pants for that poor kid?" Well he does own some. He wears them too. Well, occasionally he wears them.

Proof. :)

I'll leave you with this one...

Hopefully it made you smile back.
(BTW, that is chocolate milk on Gavin's forehead from the incident in the car.)

Hey,
I've been wondering this exact thing...Richard was a wonderful, easy baby & has been a tough toddler....I'll probably have a difficult baby next time, but an easy toddler..not sure which is easier to deal w/, LOL! I love all the pics...Richard is always stripping down to nothing these days, it's too funny. Keep those pictures coming. The boys are so cute together.

Oh my gosh, I was just reading the last few posts you wrote and it just brings back memories from last year! The showering at night, or even not at all, the trips to Target that take me a couple of hours to get ready just to buy one thing, all brings it all back, ha-ha! It will get better though. Looks like you got a good sytem going with your boys - Dylan's powder pics are hilarious! Thanks for keeping us updated!
