new oldies

There have been several events/activities in the last few months with photos that I would like to share, but I have had no time to share them. I know, I know, you are sick of hearing how hectic my life is but it is the truth. So until I get caught up, this post will be pinned at the top with links to new blog entries with old dates. That way you won't miss seeing/reading them, and I can keep them in date order. The perfectionist in me likes to keep things organized.

checking in

Well, I have to agree. Having 2 kids is much harder than 1, even when they are both really good kids. Here are some examples of my life these past couple weeks:

Bryan went back to work this past Thursday, which happened to be the morning that Dylan woke up with a 101.7 fever. I gave Dylan a tepid bath and some medication and he seemed to feel a bit better. By noon Gavin had peed and pooped on me. Dylan woke up from his very short nap all hot again so I gave him another dose of meds. (Alternating Tylenol & Motrin every three hours works wonders). Later that day Dylan had mega crusty boogers and couldn't breathe well, so I had the privilege of picking them out since he doesn't know how to blow his nose yet. Ahhhhh, the joys of motherhood. He threw up on me twice while I was picking his nose. Apparently boogers make him dry heave. It is probably a good thing that he didn't have much of an appetite that day because it was just juice and phlegm that came up. If it was food, I probably would have puked right back on him. Dylan felt much better on Friday and I was relieved (even though he woke up in the morning 2.5 hours earlier than usual)!

On Friday Gavin had his "big boy" surgery check-up. Dylan is not fond of the doctor's office anymore and he freaks out when we get called back to a room. He knows that is where he goes to get shots, etc. Kind of like how a dog freaks out when you take them to the vet. Anyway, there I am holding an infant carrier on one arm and a crying 30 lb toddler on the other along with a fully-loaded diaper bag slung over one shoulder. Good times.

I tried to quickly go to Target last weekend with the two kids while Bryan golfed. It took twice as long as usual and all I needed was diapers. I had Dylan in the front seat of the cart and Gavin in the back in his infant carseat but there wasn't much room to put anything else - not even my diaper bag. Where the heck was I going to put the big box of diapers? I ended up forcing them onto the bottom rack of the cart but I am dreading the day when I have to get a lot of things or go grocery shopping. My neighbors tell me "You have to use two carts. You push one and pull the other." Well shit, that sounds like a fun time.

Nowadays, I normally don't get to shower until the evening after Bryan gets home and Dylan is in bed. Today was different since it was the weekend, I had a hair appointment at 11:45AM, and I wanted to take a shower beforehand. Gavin was asleep on our bed and Dylan came in the bathroom after I got out of the shower. I was standing at the sink getting ready and not really paying attention to what Dylan was doing, although I knew he was right next to me. When I finally looked over Dylan was sitting in the tub in his pajamas with the water running. He was soaked. How do you other mom's of 2+ shower and get ready when no other adult is home to watch the kiddos??

Seriously, I don't know how mom's that have "2 under 2" do it. I am so grateful that Dylan is not as clingy as he was when he was 18 months old. If he were, I think he would be super jealous of Gavin and I would be beside myself right now. Dylan is much better at entertaining himself and playing independently in his playroom these days. He hasn't shown one iota of jealousy and is very interested in "bebe". I don't think I could deal with jealousy on top of all the other chaos.

Enough of my babbling, here is a picture of lil' G & I from last night.

Gavin resembles Dylan quite a bit, way too cute. I guess he would...they're brothers! LOL....I needed a good laugh today....."When I finally looked over Dylan was sitting in the tub in his pajamas with the water running. He was soaked." You had me laughing there...That just sounds like a typical day in the life of me w/ my son, LOL.....oh the joys. :)

I love it! Having 2 really can be a challenge - any day that includes a show IS a success!

As for grocery shopping either a) send your hubby (my personal preference) or b) wear the baby and put dylan in the cart? Shopping with 3 in a few months won't be fun for me - good times though!

Hang in there and you two look adorable!

Your post gave me a good laugh. I can imagine 2 being a challege, but I am sure you guys will get used to it in no time.

Now the 2 shopping cars doesn't sound like much fun. I can't imagine pushing one and pulling the other, I would be in there all day :-) And Dylan in the bath tub had me laughing so hard.

Hang in there, btw, you look great!

Erin- at least you still have your sense of humor! Not even sleep deprivation and being covered in baby goo can take that away! Gavin is darling, and I am sure things will get easier for you soon- you will get the hang of it, I just know it!

LMAO at the grocery store paragraph...I can hardly go with one! You have validated all of my biggest fears of getting pg again!

Oh my gosh - I am cracking up. Hopefully with you and not at you (maybe?) I can say that I definitley won't be showing DH your blog...since it will confirm his fears of having 2. I'm sure you'll get used to it soon! Very cute picture!

Erin- when you go to teh store try putting Gavin into a baby sling/bjorn thing and then put Dylan in the seat part. That will leave the back open. That is what I have been noticing other moms doing.

All the things I have to look foward to! Love the kissy pics above!
